40th anniversary of the Enfield Caribbean Association at the Dugdale Centre in Enfield Town.
On Thursday, April 16th, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Enfield Caribbean Association at the Dugdale Centre in Enfield Town. A special supplement will be featured in The Voice.
As Patron of the Enfield Caribbean Association, I am honored to commemorate this significant milestone, which reflects the remarkable legacy of the Windrush Generation. We pay tribute to four decades of community service and the courage, resilience, and cultural strength of those who journeyed from the Caribbean to Britain in search of opportunity and belonging.
The Windrush pioneers laid the groundwork for organizations like the ECA, arriving with hope and determination while often facing discrimination and hardship. Despite these challenges, they created vibrant communities and nurtured cultural pride, contributing to the fabric of British society in various fields, including healthcare, politics, and the arts.
For forty years, the Enfield Caribbean Association has upheld this spirit through advocacy, education, cultural programs, and community support, ensuring that the voices of Caribbean people in Enfield are heard and celebrated. The ECA has been a lifeline for generations, offering friendship, opportunities, empowerment, and dignity.
As we mark this anniversary, we acknowledge the ongoing efforts to challenge inequality and protect the rights of Caribbean communities across the UK. The ECA’s commitment to social justice and cultural expression remains vital today.
Thank you to the founders, volunteers, members, partners, and supporters who have shaped this journey. Your dedication embodies the best of who we are.
May the next forty years be guided by the resilience and unity that define the Windrush legacy. Together, we continue the story.
